How To Lose Stomach Fat
July 1, 2009 by Jessica Harmon
It’s a question asked by many people everyday, “How do I lose stomach fat”. This is because it is the most common place that your body will store fat. So if you are consuming more calories than you are burning off, you will undoubtedly start building up fat on your body, most commonly on your stomach.
So what can you do to lose this stomach fat?
Well the first thing you need to do is get out a pad and pen and work out your calorie intake. You need to know how much you are currently eating each day, so that you can work out how much exercise you need to do to burn more calories than you are eating.
Losing weight really is simple math. You need a calorie deficit in order to start burning off the excess fat. As a quick example, it takes approx 3500 calories to be burned for you to lose a single pound of weight. So not only can you work out what you should be consuming each day, you can work out how much you would lose depending on how much exercise you do.
Another important thing to realise is that you cannot burn off stomach fat by doing hundreds of sit ups each day. This will only aid to your problem because if you start building up your ab muscles before losing fat, it will just make your stomach appear larger and you will look more overweight.
Set yourself some achievable goals
This is the very first thing you need to do. Write down what waist size you want to be or what weight you would really like to get to and write it down. Then work out what you need to do each day in order to get there. Set short term goals and long term goals. Stick to them religiously.
Make sure your goals are achievable and realistic. If they aren’t and you can’t achieve them, you will become less motivated and may give up completely. Reaching short term goals gives you so much excitement that you will just set another one and carry on. This is a great way to work towards your long term goals without even realising it.
Hopefully you now realise that when learning how to lose stomach fat, it really is just a case of working out your calories, eating healthy and exercising as often as you can. Set yourself a plan that means you are always burning more calories than you eat and you should see a difference in a very short space of time.
