Holiday Cooking Tips

June 3, 2009 by Jessica Harmon

Holiday Cooking TipsAs if the holidays weren’t stressful enough, it’s getting to that time again when you need to think about what to cook. It’s not enough that you are already running around from one place to another, dropping things off, picking things up; you have to cook for everyone too!

Well before you start to have a nervous breakdown, let’s take a look at how to make holiday cooking easier than ever before:

Preparation Is The Key

You have almost certainly have heard this before but it is the number one rule of cooking in general. You need to prepare. You should decide in plenty of time what you are going to be making, thus letting you know exactly what you need for ingredients in plenty of time to go out and buy them.

Preparation Is Key!

Sounds simple but this is going to save you the headache of trying to remember everything when the time gets nearer. So choose your meals, work out what ingredients you need to buy and go out and buy them.

Don’t Leave Everything Until The Last Minute

Again, you’ve probably heard this a thousand times but don’t leave all your preparation and cooking until the actual day you need it. You should cook whatever you can the day before, so that it just needs reheating on the day. Obviously you’ll have to be careful about storing the food and whether it can be reheated safely but most things can and it saves you a big headache on the day.

Things such as starters and deserts are easily made the day before and can be stored in the refrigerator until needed.

Basically, the least amount of actual cooking you do on the day, the better it will be for you.

Have A Back Up Plan!

You should also have a quick and easy to cook back up plan just in case something goes wrong with your main dish. People won’t mind eating something nice rather than eating nothing at all.

Hopefully these holiday cooking tips will make your life easier when the next holiday arrives!
