June 11, 2009 by Jessica Harmon
To find the best exercise for abs development, you don’t have to look very far. Actually, what you need to do is combine a variety of abs exercises because that will give your abs a more proportioned look. It also means you can concentrate on each area separately, thus gives each area a better workout.
You need to work all 3 areas of the abs – the lower abs, the upper abs and the obliques. You can do this easily from the comfort of your own home. Just focus on a different area each day and you’ll get faster results than trying to work them all at the same time or even worse, just concentrating on one area.

Here are 3 of the best exercises for abs development:
Abs Exercise #1 – Bicycle Exercise
The bicycle exercise has been widely used and is the most popular because it works very well. It’s an easy exercise to perform and only takes a few minutes each day to see results.
To Perform This Exercise – Lie on a flat surface on your back. Place your hands behind your head around the neck area. Lift up your knees and bring your shoulders off the floor. You then extend your right leg so that it is straight and twist your body so that your right elbow aims towards your left knee. You then repeat this with the other leg. You should aim to do between 10-20 reps before you rest.
Abs Exercise #2 – Exercise Ball Crunch
The exercise ball crunch is a fantastic exercise for working your core stomach area. This really helps to build up your ab muscles.
To Perform This Exercise – Lie on the ball so that it is under your lower back. Next, put your hands behind your head. Now lift up your upper body to perform a standard sit up. Then lower yourself down again until your body is flat. Aim to do 10-20 reps at a time. It is important to keep the ball as still as possible. This requires extra effort which is why this is such an effective exercise.
Abs Exercise #3 – Torso Track
Although this exercise requires a piece of equipment, it is deadly effective for strengthening the ab muscles.
To Perform This Exercise – Start by taking hold of the Torso Track handles and pull in your ab muscles. Breathe out and slide forward on the machine. Be careful not to go too far, as you could hurt your back. Then pull yourself back by using your ab muscles. Repeat this as many times as you can comfortably do. Although it will take some getting used to, it is by far one of the best exercises for toning the abs.
